"The Cratchet Family" was the true precursor to Trip Shakespeare. Based in Boston, it included Matt (guitar and vocals), Elaine Harris (drums), Jason Ravitz (drums), Abby McGanney (drums) and Tom Copperthwaite (bass). Yes, that's three drummers. You may recognize the names of some of these songs from "The Cratchet Family Album".
And yes, that's how you spell it.
Elaine left for the homeland about 2 years after the fall of Trip Shakespeare. Here are some bands she recorded with before and after leaving for the homeland:
Elaine is on drums here. Other musicians include John Casey, Eric Christopher, John Hartley, Greg Traxler, Jim Anton, John Einweck and Dana Thompson. Here is a track from the album: Waitress
Elaine on drums again, and this is an album you could listen to unknowingly and think to yourself, "That's Elaine!". Snippets of all the songs are avaiable here: Ride the Fader
