Arrived around 8pm Friday night. Took the short cut around detour. Today was rainy so we went to Grand Rapids. Bought 6 rolls of roofing from Lamperts new store. Went to L&M and old school house. Got home about 3pm. Jeff B. fixed wheel bearing and put in a new alternator - twice. Ate dinner at 9pm and went to bed.

Took a long morning walk to inspect the new culvert. After breakfast, I moved and Jeff changed the oil and filter on the tractor. I also weed whipped the shore and mowed and raked. Jeff had to fix the mower. We got organized for next week.

Took all the roofing and tools out of the car and hauled it up next to the cabin.

During this week we couldn't keep up with the journal due to the fact that we are putting in 10-12 hour days.

Arrived Saturday. Stopped in Grand Rapids to pick up more roofing supplies. Put Jeff B.'s boat in a campgrounds and it wouldn't start. Had to use trolling motor to get it to our side of the lake. Rained off and on so we couldn't start the roof.

Sunday: Ripped off old roofing over the porch. I had to go to Grand Rapids and get roof boards to repair the rot. It was more difficult to do old section because of four layers. We had to replace all fascia board. We rolled out tar paper in the rain. The rain was short but we still had leaking into the cabin. What a mess.

Monday: Put down roll roofing over the porch. It took us all day. Slow work till 8pm.

Tuesday: Tore off old on lake side. Put down tar paper and shingled to almost the ridge. Worked under lights till 8 or 9pm. Rain forecast. Very windy. Almost lost the boat.

Wednesday: Rained all morning. We covered the trailer full of shingles and took to landfill. Muddy mess. We had to go into Grand Rapids to get staples and gas. We got back about 1pm and started ripping off the woods side of the cabin. Found rot by the old chimney and I had to run into Marcel to get more roof boards. The last time it was repaired (probably when they put additional on) they used a gallon of tar. No rain forecast so we repaired the rot and quit about 8:30pm. Used lights to see. Panic is setting in. We are suppose to meet Jo, Jeff, Steve, Pat Friday afternoon at Superior.

Thursday: I worked on refilling the trailer while Jeff continued to put on new facia and repair the overhang over the door. We started shingling and made it to the chimney when over work light broke. So we decided to start cleaning up the equipment that we were done with. Worked until 9:30.

Friday: Up at dawn. Finished the roof about 1pm (ridge not done). Cleaned the cabin and rushed out of here about 4pm.

Went back up on the roof. Finished the ridge about 1pm and prepared to go to the landfill. Jeff B. had to fix the bulb on the trailer. We dumped the last of the shingles. Much dryer this time. When we got home we stopped at Marcel for LP gas. $29.00 for 100 pounds. It was too late to go fishing so Jeff B. built a sawbuck.
