Jeff's Favorites
These are a few of my favorite things...this page is constantly in-work.
Albums
- Southern Harmony and Musical Companion - The Black
Crowes - 1992
- Burnt, White, and Blue - Matt Wilson - 1998: Probably
my favorite overall album. I started liking Matt's music back in 1989
when I was in college and he was in Trip Shakespeare. This won a
Minnesota Music Award for "Best Indie Album" in 1998 and was
the City Pages "Best Album in the Last 12 Months" in 1998.
- The Great Divide - Semisonic - 1996: More former
members of Trip Shakespeare. Their best album. Consistently good
throughout. Title song is the highlight.
- Feeling Strangely Fine - Semisonic - 1998: Their
breakthrough album w/Closing Time.
- Wildflowers - Tom Petty - 1994: Petty's second solo
album. Mostly mellow with the rockers. The mellow songs, especially
the title song, are the highlights.
- Powerage - AC/DC - 1978: The turning point for
AC/DC. This album bridges the raw sound of "Let There Be
Rock" with the impeccable production of "Highway to
Hell".
- T.N.T. - AC/DC - 1975: AC/DC's second album,
but their first with Phil Rudd. AC/DC's sound is finally realized on
this album. Many classic AC/DC songs, including Live Wire, It's a Long
Way to the Top, The Jack, T.N.T., High Voltage, and Rocker.
- Private Eyes - Daryl Hall and John Oates - 1981: Laugh
if you will, but these guys were my favorite band in 6th, 7th and 8th
grade. This is their most consistently good album, before they started
getting too techno-pop (like on Big Bam Boom). Looking for a Good Sign
is a hidden gem.
- The Lonesome Jubilee - John Mellencamp - 1987
- The Flops - The Flops - 2002
Songs

- Music For Boys - The Suburbs: A catchy,
alternative dance club song about vampires luring young boys to a fake
summer camp and sucking their blood. That's different. "Come
on over to our valley, where boys run free. Run through the lush green
meadows in your shorts! Brother John will be your guide in a summer of
indescribable earthly delights."
